Montreal, Canada has a car sharing program called Communauto. Seventeen thousand members share 800 vehicles.

The video above was from a year ago. Today nine electric cars were added to the fleet.  All are Nissan Leap sub-compacts with four doors.

A complete recharge takes seven hours at 240 volts. That’s good for 160 kilometers or 100 miles. The cost of the charge – only $2.00.

Electric cars produce no pollution and run quietly. This is true green power.

By next year, Montreal will have 50 electric cars in the program. If you live in a metropolitan area with a similar program, it’s a great way to try out an electric car without having to purchase one yourself.Get Involved
